ACRU Protecting Senior Voters in Midterms

The American Civil Rights Union is an affiliate of ours and we want to highlight the work they are doing. After reports of voter fraud and identity theft happening within nursing homes in partnership with the Association of Mature American Citizens, ACRU set out to protect the voice and vote of senior voters .

Rebecca Weber from the Association of Mature American Citizens stated “If there was ever a senior-centric election cycle, it’s this year’s midterm elections; older Americans will win big or lose. It is critical that the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population, senior citizens, protect their rights, particularly their voting rights,”

If you remember earlier this year there was an investigation in Wisconsin that uncovered evidence of vote fraud, illegal assisting and marking of ballots within nursing homes. The investigation also discovered many nursing homes to have 100% of their residents vote which brought concern as many residents suffer from dementia and would not have been able to vote for themselves.

ACRU has continued to do astounding work protecting the vote of vulnerable populations and we are proud to be affiliated with them. Ken Blackwell stated “One of the fundamental purposes of government is to protect vulnerable among us. When it comes to making it easy to vote but hard to cheat, protecting our senior citizens as they exercise their fundamental right to vote is a moral obligation as well as a legal one,”. Blackwell has endorsed our Model Election Reform, serves on the ACRU board and is the Chairman of the Center for Election Integrity at the America First Policy Institute.
